I just spent the last two weeks watching the summer Olympics in Beijing. This turned out to be an amazing event. From the impressive opening ceremonies to the closing events, China presented us with a world class event. See what a little $41 billion dollars can do?
Canada won 18 Olympic medals this year, 3 Gold, 9 Silver & 6 Bronze. But these were the summer Olympics and Canada is a winter country, so get ready for Canada to smash all records when the 2010 Olympics come to Whistler in British Columbia.
So this month I thought I'd award some music that brought out the best in the Oracle Audio sound.

Bronze Metal - Malcolm Arnold's Arnold Overture
Not only do I have this in CD media, I have a rare copy of this on vinyl. Cost me a pretty penny too! I was introduced to Malcolm Arnold by a friend that works for Steinway. My friend Jason was introducing me to some new Reference Recordings that he had. Jason has internally powered speakers and he wanted to listen to something different. So we removed his tube preamp and tube CD player. I brought him my Oracle Audio CD2500MKII and the Oracle Audio DAC1000. Never had he heard such air and depth in HIS system. Although he had some very fine components, he couldn't stop remarking on "depth and width" of the soundstage. The grain and bloom of the midrange, which is what he loved about his tube gear, was replaced by detail and sonics he'd never heard before. (I love hearing this).
For me, it was an introduction to some really fine orchestral music by a phenomenal British composer. Based on this listening session, I became a huge Arnold fan. Since this was the "first" orchestral music I really enjoyed, I am awarding it my Bronze metal.

Silver Medal - Blue Coast Collection (The E.S.E. Sessions)
Last year at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver, I had the pleasure of meeting label founder, and five-time Grammy nominated producer/engineer Cookie Marenco. This award winning collection of songs has been recognized by audiophiles and casual listeners for its sonic precision combined with passionate musical performances. Performed in the studio without the use of headphones, overdubs or digital effects, these sessions led to a proprietary recording technique called Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.), which creates a holographic sensation for both surround and stereo recordings through microphone placement and allows the musicians a more dynamic performance.
Cookie was astounded by the sound she heard in our room. She was astounded by the quality of the Oracle Audio gear. This was the closest she had ever heard her recordings short of being in the control room. She was truly amazed with our Oracle Audio stereo system. "Never have I heard a system with such detail and control" said Cookie after the event. Oracle Audio now uses the Blue Coast Collection as a regular part of our reference material.

Gold Medal - The Beatles: Love
The Gold Medal goes to the new Beatles Love album (which is considerably better than the CD version) premiered at this years CES. Audience members sat and listened to the entire first side of the album with their jaws wide open. This was also the introduction to the Oracle Audio Thalia phono cartridge. Members of the audience commented on the air and dynamics of the album, they commented on the soundstage, they commented on the detail. So was it the good source material or a great cartridge or both? As we all know, it takes a great stereo to extract great music from a great source.

Those of you who attended CES 2008 got a first hand experience of the stereo. Please send me your music suggestions. Wait till you hear what's being planned for CES 2009!
A reminder to US Dealers, Audiotion will be presenting Oracle Audio at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest this October in Denver. They will be in room Atrium 427 partnering with JPS Labs and Usher Audio. Please let us know what shows YOU have planned for the end of this year.
Next month we will have details on the new Oracle Audio Corinth low-output phono cartridge. We will also have more information on the new Oracle Audio P1000MKII stereo amplifier.

As always, is there any thing I or Oracle Audio can do for you?
Grab a glass of lemonade and get started on using the rest of the summer months to your advantage. Implement just a few Olympic marketing ideas and watch your sales soar all year round!
You will be an award winner too! See you at Whistler in 2010!
May this year be warm, bright, safe, prosperous and analog.
